ISRO YUVIKA TRAINING PROGRAM.
YUVIKA 2023 Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) conducted an outstanding summer program named Young Scientist Program- YUVIKA in its 7 major centres across India from 15-26 May, 2023. Its objective was to spark interest in the minds of young scientists in the field of space science and technology.
352 students across pan India were selected for this program out of which two young budding child scientists AUGUSTYA AGRAWAL CLASS X and DEVANSSH PADIA CLASS X from N.H GOEL WORLD SCHOOL got the opportunity to participate in this very innovative and informative Training program.
The school faculty motivated them to fill the forms and go ahead with this opportunity. The selection procedure assessed them on various parameters like NCC, sports, participation in science fair, qualifications in Olympiads, and result of class 8th. The school authorities Dr Awinash Pandey , Mr S. K Tomar and Mentor M.N SINGH assisted them with the whole process about the details to be filled in the form. They made them aware about the programme and its importance in their upcoming life. Their initiative thus played a major role in getting these students their memorable experience.
The centre allotted was “Satish Dhawan Space Center” SHAR, Sriharikota which is home to the two grand launch pads of India. On arrival, the students were provided with the YUVIKA Welcome Kit which included all the essential goodies. The program commenced with inauguration ceremony and an online interaction with the Chairman ISRO Shri S. Somnath along with the directors of respective centres. The days would start with yoga sessions in the morning and accompanied by lectures given by different eminent scientists of ISRO which gave a detailed explanation about the launch vehicles, satellites, their working and many more. The evening timings were dedicated to sports keeping in mind the physical fitness of the students.
The programme paid emphasis to practical and experimental team activities like Rocket Assembly, Robotic Kit Assembly, CANSAT Experiment, Personality Development Classes and Solar System Observation through telescope. The participants even got the chance to visit important places like the Mission Control Centre (MCC), First and Second Launchpad’s, Multi Object Tracking Radar (MOTR) and Sounding Rocket Complex.
The weekend commenced with a visit to Tirupati Regional Science Center followed by a Movie night Badminton Tournament and Cultural Night also took place. Special live session from Antarctica NRSC was conducted to interact with scientist on expeditions and by NESAC Shillong explaining about the concepts of drones.
There were students from different parts of the country, ready to interact with each other. They were provided with the best of the facilities giving them a great learning environment which they would cherish forever.
The program concluded with a valedictory session with the chairman of ISRO at Bengaluru. Hereinafter, feedbacks were shared and questions answered concerning the upcoming endeavours.
These 12 days were beautifully packed with- theory, practical’s and fun. A wholesome experience was given to the participants which surely inspired them to be the bright futures of the country.
